Bjornsson Named World’s Strongest Man 2018
Game of Thrones star Hafthor Julius Bjornsson, of Iceland, took first place at the World’s Strongest Man 2018 competition on Sunday, reports Fitness Volt.
The competition took place in Manila, Philippines, after being held the past two years in Botswana.
Bjornsson won over a pool of 30 strongmen, including four-time champion Brian Shaw of the United States.
The route to victory featured Bjornsson winning the Overhead Press and Loading Race during the finals, allowing him to secure first place overall.
Bjornsson is having a year of victories. In March, he claimed first place at the 2018 Arnold Strongman Classic Ohio, and just one month later, he won the 2018 Europe’s Strongest Man competition.
Last year’s World’s Strongest Man champion, Eddie Hall, could not compete this year due to an injury. Second place went to Mateusz Koelszokwski of Poland, while Brian Shaw was awarded third. The competition lasted nine days.
